“Is that all there is? Is that all there is” by Vianca Reinig
The series “is that all there is? is that all there is” is a tribute to the invisible threads that guide our perception and weave our coexistence. At the heart is the perspective – how it is shaped through the lens of photography and the stage settings of social conventions to direct our view of the world. These perspectives paint a picture that often says more about collective scripts than about our own desires.
Photography here opens a stage on which we question the construction of our reality, which is based on norms and expectations. Are we following a societal pattern, or is our action just a role we have learned to play? Do societal guidelines shape our dealings with the world and each other, determining how we perceive art, architecture, and ourselves?
is that all there is? is that all there is encourages adopting new perspectives, breaking conventions – and: forming one’s own image. At the center is the constant search for knowledge, which often manifests itself in architectural forms that surround us and with which we interact.
