Do you know that I don’t have any artworks that exist?
Large scale installations, wrapped landmarks, temporary structures. Art that was never permanent, that brought pleasure, joy, and environmental détournement.
Christo started his work with his wife Jeanne-Claude in the 1960’s. Ever since the two artists brought people together in different parts of the globe to share experiences and to be in the moment.
As the artist himself pointed out in Mark Getlein’s Living With Art: “Do you know that I don’t have any artworks that exist? They all go away when they’re finished. I think it takes much greater courage to create things to be gone than to create things that will remain.”
