Nikolai Zavertaylo

Nikolai Zavertaylo is a painter with a distinctive and immediately recognisable visual language, shaped in part by his formal training as an architect. That foundation is evident in the underlying discipline of his compositions, where spatial clarity and structural balance meet a more intuitive, atmospheric sensibility.

His paintings are built through accumulation. Layer by layer, they gather traces of memory, time, movement and thought, functioning as physical records of lived experience rather than fixed images. Rich in surface, rhythm and emotional charge, the works resist instant resolution. They open gradually, rewarding sustained attention and revealing new relationships with each return.

Held in private collections internationally, Zavertaylo’s paintings are particularly resonant within carefully composed interiors, where their material depth and psychological presence can fully unfold. In April 2026, his work will be presented at The Ritz-Carlton Residences Limassol in a special exhibition organised by CANVAS.
