Nikolai Zavertaylo

Nikolai Zavertaylo is an architect by education and an artist by his nature. He paints using his own unique technique that takes inspiration from multiple styles of contemporary art and merges them together. According to Nikolai himself, he was influenced by such artists of the past as Matisse, Picasso, Kandinsky and Rothko, who became his “mentors” and whose works he studied in detail.

Nikolai is building on a combination of his extensive artistic and personal experiences, and is inviting the viewers on a fascinating journey through time and (art) space. The main recurring theme in Nikolai’s works is the inner world of a person with its full range of emotions, feelings and spirituality, which he uncovers with a gentle sensitivity.

In 2002 Nikolai became a member of the International Association of Fine Arts AIAP UNESCO.

In 2003 and in 2016 he was granted awards for his special contribution to the development of culture and art.

In 2006 Nicolai received a silver medal from the Russian Academy of Arts.
