Marios Varellas was born in 1970 in Larnaca, Cyprus. He studied at the Surikov University of Industrial and Applied Art in Moscow.
In 1996 he graduated with the Masters degree in Art Criticism and has been living and working in Limassol, Cyprus since then.
Marios paints on wood and canvas using bright colors and mixed media such as fabric, paper, silver, gold, and more. He experiments with different materials, combining expressionism and surrealism with decorative elements. His inspiration is the beauty of nature, love, happiness and the female charm and fragility. His characters live in a beautiful and pure world.
The art works of Marios can be found in private collections across Europe. The National Gallery of Cyprus acquired several works by Marios Varellas for its collection.
